‘Yeovil Town Football Club will play in a special pink and black kit for breast cancer awareness’
Yeovil Town Football Club face Braintree Town in the National League South on Saturday, October 28, and TV star Sarah Beeny has described it as the “most important football match in the world.”
The Property Ladder star has thrown her weight behind the football club’s ‘Paint the Park Pink’ campaign, which will raise awareness for breast cancer and also raise valuable fund for a new breast cancer unit at Yeovil Hospital.

Somerset resident Sarah has successfully battled the disease at the hospital and documented her fight in ‘Sarah Beeny vs Cancer’ for Channel 4 and has spoken about how the match could help raise the final £36,000 required to complete the payment for the project at Yeovil Hospital.
As part of Cancer Awareness Month, Yeovil Town will be wearing a specially commissioned pink and black hooped shirt for the game, and supporters can buy replica kits from the club, on a first come, first serve basis.

In a video posted on Yeovil Town’s social media pages, Sarah has urged people to come to the game, which will see a number of family orientated activities beforehand as well as The Entitled Sons, who are Sarah’s sons and husband, playing for the crowds at half-time.
In the video, Sarah says: “I am going to be here for the most important football match in the entire world, in the entire history of football. So, this football match is to raise money for the new breast care unit at Yeovil Hospital.
“They’re so close to being there, they’re only £36,000 away from having all the money to build the whole unit. And there’s the best football match and an entire day here on the 28th of October where anyone who’s anyone is going to be. And, excitingly, the Entitled Sons will also be playing here on that day. What a bonus!”

Sarah added: “There’s lots to eat, lots to drink, it’s a whole day thing. Why don’t you all come? Everyone should come! Let’s Paint the Park Pink!”
Yeovil Town captain Josh Staunton has previously told Somerset’s Alive! about the impact that cancer has had on his family and why the fundraising day has a special place for him.
The football club has a GoFundMe page set up with a goal of raising £40,000 for Yeovil Hospital and get them over the line with their new cancer unit.

The club’s commercial director Mark Robinson said about the initiative: “Everyone at Yeovil Town Football Club is striving to bring the community of Yeovil together and support our friends at the Yeovil Hospital Charity by dedicating this unique day to anyone who has been affected by cancer, directly or indirectly, anyone who has lost a friend or a loved one to this terrible disease.
“We want to stand together as a community to show people they are not alone and give hope to anyone fighting their own battle. We want you to know you have the support of the town and the club behind you as we strive to help the hospital in achieving its aim of providing the best care it can to make a difference to everyone who needs it or may need it in the future.”
Mark concluded: “Pink is not just the colour of a ribbon, It’s the promise of hope, let’s make Huish Park pink for a day to give hope and support to so many people effected by cancer.”
