‘Over £13,000 has been raised by the festival since its inception after lockdown’
As school fundraisers go, the Lovington Festival is up there with the most successful in Somerset and has put thousands of pounds into the coffers of the local primary school.
Saturday, September 16 will see the latest incarnation of the festival open its gates to the public with a day full of music, food and drink promised for all those who have bought tickets.
The festival is quickly becoming an essential date on the calendar for many across the county as it continues to get bigger and better after it was born from the lockdown.

Speaking to Somerset’s Alive!, one of the festival’s organisers, Naomi Bushrod, has given an insight into the flavour of the Lovington Festival.
With Lovington Primary School as the benefactors from the profits generated, Naomi explained how the festival came about.
She said: “We began post covid in 2021 to make up sorely missed funds for an amazing rural school that needs massive help.”

This year’s festival sees music from The Enrichments, who will bring “big fat soul and funk pop for grown ups” while The Helm will be blasting some indie pop anthems.
There will be skanking ska with The Ska Kives and mixed up mayhem with The Funked Dimension. This will all be washed down with lashings of cider, beer and wine while a hog roast will be keeping bellies filled.

Naomi added that the hopes for this year’s festival is to “match last year’s target and make a big impact on the school this year.”
There is much to look forward to and Naomi said that they can’t wait for “the whole day and see our hard work paying off with very smiley kids.”
With all organisers volunteering for their roles that bring the festival together, Naomi also paid tribute to others that give financial backing to make sure the event is given every chance of being a success, and admits “we rely heavily on sponsorship.”
It seems to be a fantastic partnership between the school, parents and local businesses and Naomi told Somerset’s Alive! how much they have raised so far over the years.
She said: “£13,000 so far and altogether, we really want to make a difference.”
The Lovington Festival certainly seems to be doing that.
